Learning Model
Pacific Hills provides an innovative and relevant educational experience for students. Programs founded on Biblically based values and principles are designed to help students prepare for the changing demands of the work place and the wider community. The core guideline of all programs is the strategy of ‘learning to be a life long learner’.
The Augustine Program for more academically able students is an innovative approach that tracks through each of the three schools. This program involves extension, enrichment and acceleration of students.
Students with particular learning needs are catered for through our Resource Program. In each of our three schools special learning needs are identified and supported by qualified Resource Teachers and Teachers’ Aides.
Support is available for students from a non English speaking background through our English as a Second Language (ESL) Program, across the three schools.
Curriculum Development utilises many different approaches in program delivery, with the objective of providing a relevant curriculum that genuinely prepares students for life long learning and service.
Learning experiences are shaped through the Pacific Hills Model of Learning. This Model is used by staff in the development of successful, powerful learning experiences. It honours the importance of:
- The Bible as God’s measure of all truth
- The activation of prior knowledge and experience
- The critical role of engagement through relevance and challenge
- The value and role of reflection
- Embedded lateral thinking skills and relational thinking
- The power of service as an integral part of the learning experience
Technology is used as a tool to enhance teaching, with learning experiences that are interactive and cater for individual learning styles of students in a secure online environment.
In support of life long learning, we recognise the need for education for all members of the Pacific Hills community, and encourage parents in their parenting by providing regular Parent Seminars.
