Board Chairman
Pacific Hills is involved in a work of great significance. What could be more important than helping to develop the values and gifts of young people?
Our purpose is to provide a Christian educational community as a centre of teaching and learning excellence founded on Biblically based beliefs, values and behaviour. That is a challenging goal and it is one we are striving to implement. We are determined to maintain a distinctly Christian ethos by engaging Christians (from diverse Christian traditions) who can teach from a Biblical perspective. We purposefully develop a culture in which all our people are taught to use their gifts in service. Opportunities to participate in mission trips are provided to help achieve that goal – our students are encouraged to look outwardly.
While the Board provides a broad oversight, it is the staff in particular, working in partnership with parents and the broader school community, that provides the delivery of this excellence. We are grateful that we have such a dedicated group of teachers and support staff.
The Board is composed of a group of people with a broad range of gifts and professional expertise. We have a balance between those with a direct involvement in the school (as parents) and those with involvement in other key areas of service, which helps to broaden our understanding of key issues.
The Board has adopted some key principles from the “Carver model” of corporate governance. Under this model, the Board does not involve itself in the day-to-day management of the school. Rather, the Board sets broad policy and empowers the Principal and his staff to deliver outcomes within the boundaries set by that policy.
The day-to-day management of a school like Pacific Hills is a challenging task with many issues arising that demand the wisdom of Solomon, the patience of Job and lots of hard work. The Board appreciates the relationship it has with the Principal built on trust, transparency and dialogue over important issues. We believe we have been blessed with the quality of the management team that has been entrusted with the task of implementing set policies and plans.
Our God is gracious. This is an exciting place to be! Please pray that Pacific Hills will continue to inspire many young (and less young) people to follow Jesus with all their hearts and serve Him with all their gifts!

Board Structure
The Board of Directors of Pacific Hills Christian School is made up of Christian men and women who are members of the company Pacific Hills Christian Education Limited, a not for profit Public company limited by guarantee.
Directors are appointed by the Board or elected by the Company Members of the company at its Annual General Meeting (held in May each year) for a term of three years. Directors may be re elected for a further term of three years, the normal maximum term of a director (with the exception of the Principal) being six years.
The Board of Pacific Hills operates according to principles of the "Governance" model of operation put forward by John Carver. It appoints a Chief Executive Officer (the Principal of the School) and this person is charged with the daily operational responsibilities of the School. The Board itself restricts its agenda to matters of policy and direction to the CEO, setting the future Vision and planning towards it realisation.
